The US Air Force has removed its bombers from a British air base due to concerns over a potential Iranian drone attack. The move follows an investigation into a possible planned terrorist attack at the base.

What happened

The US Air Force has removed its bombers from a British air base due to concerns over a potential Iranian drone attack. The decision was made after reports of a possible threat, although officials could not confirm if the threat was imminent. The move also follows an investigation into a possible planned terrorist attack at the base, which led to the arrest of a dual British-Iranian national.

A total of 12 bombers, including B-1s, B-2s, and B-52s, were redeployed to their home stations in the US as a precautionary measure. The US military has stated that the bombers can be deployed from anywhere and that the move was made out of an abundance of caution. The UK's Defense Ministry has declined to comment on the matter.

The incident has led to the arrest of several individuals, including a 22-year-old man from London who was arrested on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts. The UK's Prime Minister has stated that there are strong indications that Iran was involved in the security incident, although Iran has denied any involvement.

The US military still maintains a significant presence in the Middle East, with the recently deployed USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier and the USS Malkin Island amphibious readiness group heading to the region. The move could result in three carriers being in the region by the end of October.
