US Airbase Bomb Plot Takes Strange Turn as Suspect Calls Police on Himself

A reported bomb plot against a US airbase on British soil has taken a strange turn after one of the suspects called the police on themselves.

What happened

A reported bomb plot against a US airbase on British soil has taken a strange turn after it was revealed that one of the suspects called the police on themselves. The incident occurred at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England, where five men were arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning. The men were found with trucks full of petrol, but no explosives were discovered.

According to reports, the police were summoned by one of the suspects, who called the emergency number 999. This has raised questions about the motivations behind the incident, with possibilities including surveillance, testing security response times, or a disruptive stunt. The UK and US governments had apparently been anticipating an attack, with the base moving to its highest security level in response to intelligence of a specific and imminent threat.

The security services had been expecting an attack at Fairford, and the base had taken measures to increase security, including parking a heavy earth-mover plant to block perimeter gates and patrolling the fence line with armoured cars. The aircraft were also dispersed around the base to make the air wing less vulnerable to attack.

The investigation is ongoing, with police considering various possibilities, including whether the man who called the police did so because he got cold feet or if it was part of the plan. The US has stated that there was a serious threat against the base and that a foreign power was involved, but the extent to which the British and American governments are engaging in deception and counter-intelligence work remains to be determined.
