U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed was asked if Iran or Israel posed a greater threat to the United States. He struggled to provide a direct answer, instead suggesting that Iran's threat was partly due to Israel's actions. El-Sayed argued that the U.S. funding of Israel and the current military action posed a threat to everyday Americans by making essential items unaffordable.
El-Sayed's opponent, former Rep. Mike Rogers, criticized his response, stating that the question was not dumb, but the answer was concerning. Rogers also noted that El-Sayed had been silent on the anniversary of the October 7 attacks.
During the interview, El-Sayed claimed that the question of who posed a bigger threat was hypothetical and dumb. He emphasized the need to focus on public policy and enforcing international law against countries that break it.
