US Senator Elissa Slotkin has made a statement accusing President Donald Trump of attempting to help Russian President Vladimir Putin win the war in Ukraine.
What happened
According to Senator Slotkin, President Trump has a long-standing admiration for Putin and has been acting in his interest. She cites the president's decision to lift sanctions and slow down Starlink connections, which she claims has hindered Ukraine's ability to defend itself.
Senator Slotkin also mentioned that President Trump has been trying to gloss over his support for Putin, but has now made his intentions clear. She believes that the president's actions are not only harmful to Ukraine but also to the United States and its position in the world.
The senator's comments come amid rising tensions between the US and Russia over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Senator Slotkin's accusations against President Trump are based on his recent actions, which she sees as a clear indication of his support for Putin.
