What happened
Iran is suspected of ties to two recent terrorism-related incidents: the attempted hijacking of FlyDubai flight 1073 and a security incident at a US-operated air base in the UK. The FlyDubai flight, which had 174 passengers, mostly Israeli, was attacked by its Omani co-pilot, who stabbed the captain and attempted to crash the plane as it approached Tel Aviv.
According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the co-pilot underwent Islamist radical indoctrination and intended to bring down the plane with everyone on board. The co-pilot reportedly asked the crew to end his life, saying
