The Federalist

About 74% of voters said the Iran war was a crucial or major factor in their vote for Congress, with Democrats winning 63% of those voters. The war's impact on the election was significant, despite initial predictions it would be a short campaign.

Voters in the recent election cited the Iran war as a major factor in their decision, with about 74% saying it was a crucial or major factor in their vote for Congress.

What happened

According to NBC exit polls, Democrats won 63% of voters who considered the Iran war a crucial or major factor, while Republicans won 70% of those who said it was a minor factor or not a factor.

The divide on the war was evident in voters' opinions on whether the Trump administration made the right decision on military action against Iran. About 37% said it was the right decision, with 91% of those voters supporting Republicans, while 63% said it was the wrong decision, with 82% of those voters supporting Democrats.

House Speaker Mike Johnson had predicted the war would be a short campaign, but it did not end quickly, and multiple peace deals fell apart. The war's unpopularity grew among Republican voters, particularly young ones.
