Introduction: Why This Date Matters
On September 7th, 2025, a total lunar eclipse will occur—falling precisely on the 14th of Elul, according to the Hebrew calendar. This date is not arbitrary. It lands at the midpoint of the 40-day period of Teshuvah—a biblically appointed season of repentance leading to the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur).
The purpose of this study is to examine what Scripture says about blood moons, the biblical role of the sun and moon as signs, and why the timing of this particular eclipse is a prophetic marker linked to past events and future global developments.
The Mo’edim: Understanding God’s Appointed Times
In Genesis 1:14, God said:
“Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years.”
The word “seasons” in Hebrew is mo’edim—meaning appointed times or festivals—not the natural seasons of spring, summer, fall, and winter. These appointed times are divinely set rehearsals for redemptive events on God’s calendar, including His Sabbaths and feast days.
God also declared these heavenly bodies to serve as “signs” (oth). The Hebrew word oth (אוֹת) means mark, token, or visible indicator—always tied to covenant. Its root meaning (H225) includes “to consent,” “to designate,” and “to mark.”
Covenant in Motion: The Pictographic Meaning of Oth

In ancient pictographic Hebrew:
Aleph (א) represents the ox—strength, leadership, and sacrifice.
Vav (ו) represents the nail—connection, agreement.
Tav (ת) represents the cross-mark—covenantal seal.

Covenant was visibly enacted:
The ox (Aleph) was led by the plowman to the designated place.
The agreement (Vav) was staked—binding both parties.
The Tav marked the spot—where sacrifice sealed the covenant.
This is the very origin of the English word “oath.” When someone testifies, they swear upon a Bible because truth is grounded in a covenant.
Elul 14 and the 40-Day Window of Teshuvah
The eclipse occurs on Elul 14—20 days after the beginning of Teshuvah and 20 days before Yom Kippur. Teshuvah is not tradition. It is a prophetic call to repentance and examination. The number 40 in Scripture represents testing and preparation:
40 days of rain in the flood
40 years in the wilderness
40 days of Moses and Yeshua fasting
Elul 14 is the dividing point in this season. The number 14 in Scripture signals confirmation—a matter settled by Heaven. In Exodus 12, the Passover lamb was selected and sacrificed on the 14th day. Judgment and mercy both came on that night.
So too, this blood moon rising on Elul 14 marks a spiritual checkpoint—a divine division—between repentance and judgment.
The Duration of the Eclipse: A Prophetic Number

The eclipse will last 82 minutes.
In Hebrew, 82 combines:
Pey (80) – Mouth, decree, judgment
Bet (2) – House, division, separation
This pairing prophetically mirrors the message: a decree concerning division within God’s house.
This eclipse also occurs at the center of a divided 40-day period:
20 days before: Call to repent
20 days after: Judgment is sealed
Again, we see the number 20—representing the end of a waiting period before judgment. We also see the number 2—division. This all points back to the beginning of the Hebrew year 5780 in 2020, when this prophetic cycle began.
2020 and the Covenant Violation

In 2020, while the world focused on themes like clarity and vision, something else happened—the proposal to divide the land of Israel. President Trump’s “Deal of the Century” violated Joel 3:1–2, which warns of judgment for dividing the land and scattering the people.
Shortly afterward:
Civil unrest broke out in the U.S.
The pandemic shut down the globe
Economic collapse followed
Wars intensified
These events aligned perfectly with the warning signs already given—confirming that a covenant line was crossed.
Now, in 5786, five years later, we are once again standing at the center of this prophetic pattern—with another division point confirmed by a blood moon on Elul 14.
The Headlines: Nations Align Against Israel
In the lead-up to the eclipse, major international developments have aligned:
France Moves to Recognize Palestine
President Emmanuel Macron declared that France will officially recognize a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly in September.
United Kingdom Follows
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that unless Israel changes course, Britain will also unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state.
Arab League Supports Two-State Solution
The entire Arab League condemned the October 7th attacks and called on Hamas to disarm. Their objective: establish the Palestinian Authority as the governing body under a two-state framework.
Times of Israel Reports Conference
A formal two-state solution conference has emerged, backed by Arab and European leaders, to restart peace talks.
The Guardian Reports: 14 Nations Join
The Guardian published the headline: “14 Nations Join France Push to Recognize Palestinian State.”This number 14 is not a coincidence—it directly corresponds to the 14th of Elul, the day of the eclipse.
Meanwhile, the United States has stated its opposition to unilateral recognition without negotiations. Israel remains firm: no recognition without security guarantees and disarmament of terror groups like Hamas.
Final Analysis: What Can We Expect?
This is a prophetic pattern.
Every blood moon and solar eclipse since 2017 has come with a warning, and followed by shaking:
2017: Solar eclipse crossed America
2020: Deal of the Century, then pandemic and chaos
2024: Another solar eclipse crossed the U.S., forming an “X”
March 2025: Blood moon during Purim—then war with Iran and Israel
Now, in September 2025, another blood moon rises in the middle of Teshuvah—again, as leaders worldwide call to divide the land.
The same four signs of judgment seen in 2020 are now set to repeat—on a larger scale:
War
Another pandemic
Economic collapse
Natural disasters—earthquakes, floods, devastation
These are the birth pains Jesus warned of in Matthew 24.
And all of this unfolds in the fall moedim season—September and October. This is not a new warning. It is a continuation of the same message that began five years ago.
